Dear Stanford Faculty Members,

I’m writing to ask that you participate in the university-wide Faculty Quality of Life Survey. Launching on January 10 and open through the 31st, this survey focuses on your experience as a faculty member at Stanford. The responses will help us understand what we are doing well, where we can improve, and how we can further support and develop the faculty at Stanford.

The last survey of this type was conducted in 2008–9, and much has changed at the university since then. Your candid feedback will be important to ensuring Stanford is an exceptional place to work for all faculty.

A separate survey conducted by the Affordability Task Force will be gathering input from faculty, staff, graduate students, and postdoctoral scholars immediately following the faculty quality of life survey. I encourage you to participate in both surveys, which are important efforts in our long-range planning process.

The faculty quality of life survey will be administered by the office of Institutional Research and Decision Support (IRDS) in conjunction with the offices of the Provost and the Vice Provost for Faculty Development and Diversity. Survey responses will be kept confidential, and findings will be reported only in the aggregate at the unit level in a way that does not identify individuals.

You will be receiving an email from the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Development and Diversity with additional information on how to take the survey. Please take 15-20 minutes out of your day to share your feedback. More information is available on the survey website.

Thank you in advance for your participation and for your continued dedication to Stanford’s mission of research and teaching.

With best wishes,
Persis
